The South Dakota Highway Patrol announced on Monday that sobriety checkpoints will be conducted in 15 counties throughout February.
The counties that will have sobriety checkpoints include:
- Brookings County
- Charles Mix County
- Codington County
- Davison County
- Jackson County
- Lawrence County
- Lincoln County
- Meade County
- Minnehaha County
- Pennington County
- Roberts County
- Sanborn County
- Stanley County
- Walworth County
- Yankton County
The checkpoints are funded by the South Dakota Office of Highway Safety and conducted by the South Dakota Highway Patrol with the help of local law enforcement.
Sobriety checkpoints aim to discourage drinking and driving.
Individuals who have consumed alcohol are encouraged to find a sober driver or use an alternative form of transportation.
