Law enforcement say too many people are failing to move over for stopped vehicles with flashing lights.
Tuesday’s crash on I-380 interstate is the second in the last six months involving a police vehicle, but officials want to remind you that the move over law doesn’t just apply to law enforcement vehicles, it applies to everyone.
Trooper Bob Conrad for Iowa State Patrol was at the scene on Tuesday’s crash.
“If it’s your family or friends on the side of the road, wouldn’t you want people to move over so they wouldn’t get hurt or killed,” said Trooper Conrad.
In 2019, Iowa State Patrol said 78 people were given citations for failing to move over.
